Shardendu Tiwari belongs to the Neelmatha area in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, His ancestors belong to the Sultanpur district. Tiwari studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya Chandimandir, Haryana. Pursued B.E. in Information Technology and post-graduation in M.Tech in CS& IS from Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh.
Career As An IT Professional And Reasons Behind Deciding To Enlist In The Army
Tiwari, during his career, has worked with various organizations. At present, he is working as Cloud Engineer at Amazon. Earlier, he got placed in a global aerospace manufacturer in India, Airbus.
Tiwari had decided to join the Indian Army as he was inspired by his father, who served in the Army Service Corps (ASC). Tiwari’s father, Honorary Captain Raj Kumar Tiwari, served for 36 long years and retired from the Indian Army. Apart from his father, Tiwari, while growing up, thought about joining the Indian Army as a second-generation soldier. Tiwari also mentioned that the call of adventure, active service, and the thrill of the jungles/deserts attracted him to the army.
Tiwari had appeared for the selection process for the Indian Army 8 times and on his 8th attempt, he has cleared the Services Selection Board (SSB) and will soon be serving the nation.
Process Of Joining The Army – Any Obstacles You Faced?
Shardendu Tiwari attempted for Services Selection Board (SSB) 7 times, failed each time and eventually made it on his 8th try. Even as he was not shortlisted for the Indian Army, he did not give up and keep preparing for the selection process while working at Amazon.
On the day of his 8th attempt, Tiwari was recommended for Technical Graduate Course – TGC-140 by 14 Services Selection Board Allahabad for selection as an officer in the Indian Army.
Tiwari has joined the Officers Training Academy (OTA) Gaya to complete his training to become an officer.
After joining the Indian Army, Tiwari was assigned as Senior Under Officer (SUO) in the OTA Gaya, one of the prestigious posts at the training academy.
On 5th September 2026, Lieutenant Shardendu Tiwari took the Antim Pag (Final Step) during the Passing Out Parade at OTA Gaya. Tiwari’s story is going viral on the internet as it shows how he left a prosperous corporate career to serve the nation.
